Our Story (The Long Version)

Hello! Thanks for visiting my little corner of the internet! My name is Kelly, and I am the face behind Simple Life Designs.  Since I was a little girl I have loved jewelry and accessorizing. My mom used to make my sister and I pick our school clothes out the night before, and she often tells me about how I would pick out my jewelry too. This love of jewelry moved me to want to make my own. Growing up I made all kinds of jewelry from polymer clay beads (who knew years later I would again work with polymer  clay🤯) to sparkly beaded bracelets. There was even a macrame phase consisting of lots of necklaces and bracelets (did you rock one of my macrame pieces?😂). I never imagined starting a business because of my love of jewelry.

     In 2018 the idea of making pieces and selling them began. I dabbled in a a few different styles, making wire wrapped necklaces from sea glass I had collected to buying and reassembling other jewelry. Then one day when I couldn’t find the charm I wanted from the craft store my husband suggested making my own. From that moment on creating with polymer clay became my new found jewelry love. The early stages consisted of me rolling and flattening clay balls to create shapes and cutting the clay with a butter knife. Those were some rough looking earrings, but people loved and bought them!

     In 2021, after the pause the pandemic caused, and with my new improved skill and quality pieces, I started selling at markets. To this day seeing the excitement and love for jewelry I create fills my heart and blows my mind. This was also the year I expanded to making resin jewelry. I quickly fell in love with creating with resin and real dried flowers, and you all did too!

     Fast forward to 2024 and me finally posting the story on my website😅. I’m so grateful to have this little corner of the universe to create and to have all of you cheering me along.  My hands simply create the pieces, but your support is what fuels Simple Life Designs. 🩵
